ORC Spring ‘21 Week Eight: Living Room Reveal
If you missed the first seven weeks and want to catch up, you can read my previous posts about my One Room Challenge project here: Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6 | Week 7. You can also watch the whole ORC process on my Instagram highlight. Don’t forget to check out the reveals of the 20 Featured Designers and the rest of the Guest Participants!
I started this challenge because I wanted to show that you don’t have to own your house to make it a home. As I have always been interested in interior decorating. I used to take weeks setting up my dorm room in college to decorate it just so. I was often told that it was silly to put that much effort into a temporary place. While I understand that view it’s not one that I personally agree with. I think its always worth making a space that suits your needs especially if it helps bring you peace of mind. Design can do so much for your mood, productivity and general well being so why should it be restricted to homeowners? I wanted to show how someone who rents can create a space that’s all their own without losing your security deposit. I hope that the last eight weeks have inspired you to tackle your home (whether owned or borrowed) and that you’ll stick around and see how I makeover my other rooms!
Thank you to my friends for rooting me on - to Niccara for being my hand holder in chief. To Jordun for making sure I didn’t get crushed by my built-ins. To José for spending your first weekend post lockdown trapped in my living room helping me paint. To Erica for all your great advice on surviving the ORC! Y’all are the best, I couldn’t have done this without you.
Before I show you the final project, let’s look at where we started:
Without further ado, (drum roll please) my Spring ’21 One Room Challenge reveal!
